This privacy policy describes what data is collected by the Flatlife application (App), how it is used, stored, and protected.

Overview
The Flatlife App is used for managing your household. This includes, for example, a chat system, expense and contract management, as well as jointly managed shopping lists and tasks within the household. Under normal circumstances, you share your household with several other persons of your choice. In order to enable the functionality of the app, publicly accessible information such as chat messages, expenses, shopping items, etc. are shared with the members of your household.
Your Rights
Subject to the limitations in the data protection laws of the EEA, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. In particular, you have the right to correction, restriction, objection, deletion, and portability of data. Please contact us if you wish to exercise these rights. Also, note that you can delete your data at any time in the app itself by deleting your account.
Data We Process
When you use Flatlife, we collect (partially optional) the following data:
Email, password, name, date of birth, profile picture, etc.:
For identifying your account and affiliation with your household. To provide birthday notifications to your household members.
City, zip code, country, apartment image, etc.:
For personalizing your household and for statistical purposes.
Expense-related data such as amounts, purposes, dates, involved persons, etc.:
For providing the "Expense Management" functionality.
Chat messages, timestamps, author, etc.:
For providing the "Chat" functionality.
Contract-related information such as termination periods, start dates, consumption data, contributions, etc.:
For providing the "Contract Management" functionality.
Account-related information such as IBAN, account holder, etc.:
For managing and using a household account. The account is not connected to your bank account at any time.
Shopping list-related information such as items, quantity, category, purchase date, etc.:
For providing the "Shopping List" functionality.
Task-related information such as person, task description, points, completion time, etc.:
For providing the "Task Management" functionality.
Metadata such as device, operating system, display size, version information, etc.:
These data are, for example, sent along with feedback or error messages to reproduce any error conditions. The data are anonymous (unless sent via email) and do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the person.
Public areas may be added to the app in the future. The information shared there is freely accessible to every user of the app. You are free to use the area, but you must choose a public (and visible to everyone) username before posting. We have no control over the data posted by you or other parties there. Therefore, always use such areas with caution.

Downloads and Purchases
When you download the Flatlife app or purchase an in-app product or subscription, the necessary data for these processes are transmitted to the Google Play Store. Google handles the payment processing. You can find the privacy policy here:

Infrastructure
We use Google Firebase from Google to provide our services (backend). The data from the app is stored on servers owned by Google and processed there according to Google's privacy policies:

For collecting usage statistics needed to further develop the app.
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging
For sending push notifications to your devices.

Our backend. This is where calculations and functions run.
Google Cloud Firestore:
This is our database. All data is stored here and retrieved when needed.
Google Cloud Storage for Firebase:
This is where the images you upload (profile pictures, apartment pictures) are stored.

Advertising
Without a premium subscription, Flatlife displays advertisements. For this purpose, we use the AdMob service from Google. AdMob is responsible for selecting and displaying advertisements within the application. AdMob is also responsible for advertising personalization. We have no control over this. To avoid seeing ads, a premium account is required.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Flatlife reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time and unilaterally. We will inform you of the changes in an appropriate manner. By continuing to use the application after the announcement of changes, you expressly agree to them.
